The history of one of Shrewsbury's most charming roads has been uncovered in a fascinating look back through time.

Princess Street, nestled just behind The Square, has undergone numerous name changes over the centuries and played host to countless families and businesses that have shaped its character.

Cooper Green Pooks have gathered photographs and accounts to piece together the street's evolution, offering residents a chance to discover more about this hidden gem in the town centre.

Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival has announced the first two acts for its 2026 gala show at Theatre Severn on Sunday 12 July.

Cardiff-based comedian Ignacio Lopez, known for his appearances on Live At The Apollo and Have I Got News For You, will perform alongside Esther Manito, whose sharp observational comedy has earned her spots on numerous television shows and supporting slots with household names including Alan Davies and Jo Brand.

Tickets for the gala show are available now through the Theatre Severn box office.

The New Year's Eve Midnight Run is making its comeback to Shrewsbury's Quarry after a year's absence, offering runners a unique way to celebrate the turn of the year.

Participants can choose from 2.5K, 5K, or 10K distances, with the race starting at the stroke of midnight to the sound of St Chad's Church bells, and organisers are encouraging festive fancy dress with Christmas lights and sparkly outfits welcome.

The inclusive event is open to all ages and abilities, with dogs and prams permitted, and registration is available through Run the Distance.

A trial late-night bus service has been introduced to help people travel home safely after evenings out in Shrewsbury town centre.

Running Monday to Saturday until midnight until 23rd December, the Festive Night Bus will serve three routes connecting the centre with Oxon, Harlescott and Bayston Hill, with fares starting at just £2 for adults.

Rangers and taxi marshals will be on hand at weekends to assist passengers in finding the correct stops. Learn more here.
