Cooper Green Pooks have shared a nostalgic photograph believed to date from the mid-1970s or earlier, showing their premises on the familiar town street:

In collaboration with Cooper Green Pooks

The Open Door Cinema Club has wrapped up its successful Horror at the Hive season with a final screening of Midsommar, bringing a community of film fans together each week throughout October and early November.

Based at The Hive in Shrewsbury, the club has built a loyal following with its carefully curated film selections and social atmosphere, featuring pre-film photo booths, quizzes, and post-screening drinks at The Nags Head.

Following the popularity of horror classics including The Thing and The Lost Boys, the club is continuing its programme with two upcoming screenings before the year ends.

Shaun of the Dead arrives on Sunday 23rd November, offering a British take on the zombie apocalypse, while The Muppets Christmas Carol rounds off the year on Sunday 14th December with a festive singalong.

The club has also launched a membership scheme, with cards designed by local artist Jonny Thaw, offering free entry to remaining films and helping to establish the venture as a permanent fixture in Shrewsbury's cultural calendar.

The Gateway Gallery launched this year's Salopian Open exhibition with a packed preview evening, despite Storm Claudia.

Robert Lawton claimed both the Local Talent Award and the Overall Prize for his miniature oil paintings, having recently exhibited at the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize in Liverpool.

Additional awards went to Stephen Laurie (Ceramic Mystic) for Innovation and Zoe Keeton for Rising Star. The exhibition runs until 5th January.
