Handcrafted Jewellery Studio Opens in Shrewsbury

Silversmith Lucy has opened Hara Studio, a new jewellery shop and workspace at The Parade in Shrewsbury. Trained at Birmingham School of Jewellery, Lucy creates handcrafted pieces with an earth-conscious approach, combining her background in silversmithing with her values as a yoga teacher.

The studio launched last week, offering visitors the chance to watch Lucy working at her bench while browsing her collection of unique, made-to-last designs.

Open 10.30am to 4.30pm most days (closed Sundays and Tuesdays, late opening Wednesdays until 8pm), the shop provides an alternative to fast fashion through thoughtfully crafted jewellery.

Traditional Carols Ring Out at The Square on Wednesday

Traditional carol singing fills The Square this Wednesday 17th December from 5.30pm, featuring performances from Shrewsbury Brass Band and Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir.

Following the carols, the Market Hall stays open late for festive shopping and refreshments.

Visitors can browse handcrafted gifts and decorations from independent makers, sample seasonal dishes from the hall's popular eateries, and enjoy drinks from artisan gin and wine bars.

Mulled wine and hot chocolate will also be available throughout the evening, offering a cosy atmosphere for Christmas shopping away from the high street.

Immersive Sound Experience Coming to Shrewsbury Library

Jonny Nash brings his transportive ambient music to Shrewsbury Library on Sunday 1st February, joined by collaborator Tomo Katsurada.

The pair will perform drifting, contemplative soundscapes in the library's atmospheric setting, creating an immersive afternoon of experimental sound.

Support comes from Glasgow composer Christopher Haddow, whose layered guitar work combines field recordings and tape loops into evolving sonic textures.

Local artist Matt Sewell completes the bill with DJ sets bookending the performances. The matinee event offers a rare chance to experience boundary-pushing electronic music in one of Shrewsbury's most beautiful public spaces.

Running from 1 to 3 May, the multi-venue festival will showcase 250 acts across 40 locations throughout the town centre, from The Quarry and Shrewsbury Castle to St Mary's Church and local pubs.

The expanded programme joins previously announced headliners Ash, Reef, DJ Yoda and Elvana, plus favourites including The Bluetones Acoustic, HENGE and Little Comets.
