Featured Event: Spotlight Indie Live 2026
Spotlight Indie Live is a one-day celebration of independent fiction and creative storytelling, with a focus on fantasy, science fiction, horror, and speculative fiction. The event welcomes writers of all experience levels as well as fans of fiction and storytelling.
Visitors can enjoy panels on craft, writing, and publishing, featuring practical advice from award-winning authors, indie publishers, editors, audio producers, and bloggers. Book enthusiasts can explore the Traders’ Market, browsing signed books, merchandise, and original artwork from indie creators.
Live performances by Spellbound Immersive Productions will bring stories to life through interactive storytelling and performances, as their travelling group of bardic storytellers moves throughout the event. The day will be hosted by Joel (aka The Shropshire Dungeon Master), returning as MC and event guide for panels and Q&A sessions.

📅 New Events Platform Launches for Shrewsbury
My new website, Shrewsbury.events, has gone live to give residents one easy, 100% free place to find out what's on across the town. The platform currently lists loads of the town’s upcoming events, from live music and markets to family activities and wellbeing.
Residents can browse by category, filter by interest, and access booking details in just a few clicks. Event organisers and community groups can also submit listings for free.

🍜 Three New Independents Open Their Doors in Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury's town centre is buzzing with fresh additions.
Chaiya Thai Restaurant has opened on Claremont Street, bringing authentic family recipes from Hat Yai, Thailand, and picking up 35 five-star reviews in its first week alone.
Clarendon Fine Art has launched a new gallery on the High Street, offering contemporary and limited edition works for collectors of all levels.
And Otti, a relaxed brunch-to-dinner spot on Wyle Cop, is open Thursday to Sunday for coffee, wine, and food in a bright, welcoming setting.

🧘 Free Yoga Classes for Cancer Patients Secured for Another Year
A Shrewsbury wellbeing centre has received funding to continue offering free yoga sessions for people living with and recovering from cancer. Jenna Blair Yoga, based in Belle Vue, has been awarded support from local cancer charity Lingen Davies for a third consecutive year.
The Yoga for Cancer classes run four times a week across three locations, including Church Stretton and Newtown in Powys. More than 200 people have already attended since the programme began. To find out more or book a free session, visit jennablairyoga.co.uk.
