Firstly, I wanted to apologise for the lack of newsletters over the past couple of months. Some personal circumstances meant I had to step away for a while, and unfortunately I wasn't able to give Shrewsbury Scoop the time it deserved.
After a lot of thought, I've decided to pause Shrewsbury Scoop indefinitely.
Over the past year and a half, it's been a real pleasure putting the newsletter together each week. I spent many hours researching local news, gathering events, speaking to businesses and trying to create something genuinely useful for the community. Hearing that so many of you discovered new places, attended events and supported local businesses because of the newsletter made all that time worthwhile.
Also, I'd really appreciate it if you stayed subscribed. While Shrewsbury Scoop is paused, you won't receive any further emails, so your inbox won't be affected. If I'm able to bring it back in the future, you'll simply be the first to know when it returns. But only if you stay subscribed.
Unfortunately, despite building an audience of over 5,000 readers, it hasn't been possible to generate enough support from businesses through sponsorship to make the time and effort involved sustainable for me long term. Shrewsbury Scoop has always been completely free for readers, and while I hoped local sponsorship would allow me to continue growing it, it ultimately hasn't become viable.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who read, shared and supported the newsletter, and especially to the businesses, event organisers and community groups who submitted events, shared their stories and got involved along the way. Your support has meant a great deal.
Thank you again for all your support, kind words and encouragement over the past year. It's been a privilege to help showcase everything that makes Shrewsbury such a brilliant place.
