The Rotary Club of Shrewsbury Severn has been bringing Santa's Sleigh to Shrewsbury streets throughout December, continuing a longstanding tradition that forms a major part of the club's annual fundraising efforts.

The festive tour has been visiting supermarkets, housing estates and community locations across the town, with plenty more stops still to come before Christmas.

December Tour Schedule

Santa's Sleigh kicked off at the beginning of the month with visits to various locations including Asda, Berwick House, Radio Shropshire and supermarkets across Shrewsbury.

The tour continues throughout December with daily visits to different supermarkets including Morrison's, Sainsburys and Tesco, alongside special community evenings at housing estates.

Two key community events are planned: an evening visit to the Weir Hill development off Preston Street on 14th December, and a tour of the Oteley Road area on 21st December, which will include the new housing development near Percy Throwers garden centre.

"We will be starting on Thrower Road then travelling along the development's main roads, Maxfield and Fox Avenue. Then into Hendrick Crescent. This will be followed by a drive around Tilstock Crescent and finishing at the Darwin pub."

The club publishes exact stopping locations a day or two before each community event. A live tracker on the sleigh allows families to follow Santa's progress in real time when the link is posted on the evening of each run.

Supporting Local Good Causes

There is no cost to see Santa or take photos. The club welcomes donations via collecting buckets and card machines, with all funds raised going to local charities and good causes in the Shrewsbury area.

Beneficiaries include The Ark, Linden Davies, Midlands Air Ambulance, the Shrewsbury Food Hub and Shrewsbury Food Bank. The club also visits Harlescott Grange Junior School each year with gifts for the children.

New Hospital Sky Garden Project

The club has recently launched a major fundraising initiative to build a Sky Garden on top of the new hospital ward block at Shrewsbury. The project is being delivered in partnership with the NHS and the hospital charity, creating a space for patients and visitors to enjoy.

The December sleigh tours represent just one element of the club's year-round fundraising activities supporting the Shrewsbury community.
